What is an Average Chimp?
The Average Chimp (Chimpanzee-us Regularis) is a regular guy that does his best to live a good life, believes in God, Country, and Family above all else, can laugh at himself and the world around him, and has No Fucks to Give about anyone's nonsense.
Matt and Mike are the two most Averagest of Chimps. They are two Dads in their forties, living in the suburbs of New York City. They have jobs, are travel hockey dads, attempt to be good husbands, eat terribly, swear like pirates, quote movies mid-conversation, and drink as much bourbon as the good Lord will allow them.
The idea for the Two Average Chimp Podcast was born in the schoolyard, where the fellas met each day to pick up their kids. The two chimps talked about growing up in Staten Island, New York, being mediocre husbands and fathers, and their fears about getting old like their parents.
Being potentially halfway done with the rat race, the Chimps have gained perspective on life from the peak: They reminisce about the side they climbed up - childhood, school, careers, and having families - and discuss the side that slopes down, and imagine what comes next.
Believing that the world will be a better place if everyone knows what they are thinking, the Chimps gather once a week in Mike's garage at a tiny card table, surrounded by holiday decorations, hockey equipment, and a snow blower, and open a bottle of booze to sip and review and molest the microphones for a while.
The Two Average Chimps podcast ain't fancy, certainly not kid-friendly, and gives no fucks about anyone's feelings. So, if you are an average chimp or desperately want to be one, make yourself a drink, pull up a chair, and come along for the ride.
